City of Hamilton, Ohio When the city of Hamilton, Ohio, decided that it wanted to connect all of its municipal buildings, including both administrative offices and utility buildings, city officials selected CTS to deliver the project--a 50-mile aerial and underground private fiber optic network. The job required CTS to coordinate with the city’s electric department to place cabling on city-owned poles, as well as with Cincinnati Bell and Cinergy to place needed wiring on additional poles owned by those respective companies. To create the network, which terminated in every city building, CTS’s highly skilled technicians used ADSS (all-dielectric self-supporting) cable, a type of cable that has no metallic components, enabling safe placement of the fiber cable in the power supply zone. The result was a new city-owned local- and wide-area network, with the potential to provide Internet services to local businesses and residences, as well as to provide virtual private networks. Because CTS technicians have many years of experience with the extra safety precautions and training required to place cable on a pole line in a power supply zone, we were able to complete the job on time and on budget. |
